Founded in 1981 by Larry and Jen Risdale, Virginia Nurseries Ltd has always been a family run business and still employs several family members in the village of Newbourne, Suffolk. These days it is run by Ru Risdale, who has expanded Virginia Nurseries from salad growing for major supermarkets to growing and supplying wholesale to shops, pubs, restaurants and other local businesses.

Virginia Nurseries delivers within a twenty mile radius of Woodbridge, Suffolk, and we make regular deliveries to Woodbridge, Felixstowe, Ipswich and Framlingham.

Over thirty five years of experience in the horticultural industry has given us extensive product knowledge as well as strong relationships with the local farming community.

Our aim is to provide high quality fresh fruit and vegetables, at a cost that is fair to both the grower and the customer. We do not use any pesticides, herbicides or fungicides. We use beneficial insects to control pests, regular crop rotation to avoid diseases, such as mildew, and growing through a mulch reduces weeds.

We release British bumblebees into our greenhouses to aid pollination and ladybirds to keep down the number of greenfly.

Virginia Nurseries is committed to modern and innovative growing methods which are good for the consumer, the grower and the environment.

We are growers and suppliers of fresh fruit and vegetables, well known for our salads and tomatoes. We can provide our own homegrown produce ‘Harvested to order’, as well as fruit and veg sourced locally, county-wide, nationwide and worldwide!

We also offer freshly prepared produce for busy kitchens and larger functions. Cut your prep time, minimise waste and let us do the work for you! Our preparation service includes washing, peeling, slicing and dicing to your specifications. All produce is freshly prepared to order and vacuum packed to retain freshness.

We are currently making regular deliveries in Woodbridge, Ipswich, Felixstowe and Framlingham areas, Monday to Saturday from around 4am. There is no minimum order requirement and orders can be made any time, any day, either by emailing us or calling our order line number (contact details below). For existing customers, regular orders can be made up until 10pm for a next day delivery. However for your first few orders we recommend you speak to us first to be sure we understand your requirements and for your peace of mind
